Arriving in France will involve the new comer with all sorts of complex administrative formalities. You may be required to apply for your Titre de Séjour/ Carte de Séjour. If so, it should be done within three months of your arrival in France.
For a citizen of an EU member state, or the spouse/family member of one, this is fairly straightforward - and in fact in many cases the Carte de Séjour is no longer required - if you comply with the requirements. It can be more complicated for non-EU citizens.
